Most of us are constantly looking ahead, to this magical time in the future when all will be well. The problem is, that we miss the moment, the here and now where we have true power to change our state.

In this modern age, most people are blaming external situations for their lack of happiness and “if only” things were different, then they would be happy. In this mindset, happiness becomes almost unattainable because external factors are often outside our control and will always be there. The magic lies in being able to take back control and determine our own happiness in the here and now.

First and foremost is to take back control and stop seeing ourselves as victims. When we have a victim mindset we see and feel the whole world against us and give away our power towards being able to reconnect with our inner natural state of happiness. Nobody actually makes us feel anything, it’s how we allow ourselves to feel and if we can remember this then we have a choice. We can choose to be a victim and give away our power or we can choose to acknowledge and accept what has happened and to move forward on our journey.

We can “choose” to be happy. This is where affirmations can be very powerful by restating to our self, over and over again, that we are happy (not hoping to wanting to be) then we begin to resonate with that truth.” We are what we think” and if we think happy then we can more easily become happy. We can stop trying to be happy and allow ourselves to simply be happy.

sometimes we need to be reminded how easily we can become happy by remembering some simple truths –

We need to ask ourselves, why are we not allowing ourselves to be happy?. What is in it for me to remain unhappy? For many people, being unhappy allows them to feel like other people may want to love them more care for them more because they are needy. But once again, this is giving away our power and if we choose to not be unhappy then we open ourselves up far more easily to allowing happiness to come back in. When we can see the joy of experiences they would become more accepting and then we become happier.

Again, these are easy words and statements to make by someone who is not unhappy and so sometimes we need a little bit more help to guide us back into a state of happiness.

If we are habitual complainers then unhappiness becomes our norm. If we can stop complaining, and be grateful for what we do have, we soon change our perspective. We can always see someone in a far worse position than ourselves and in so doing we can reconnect with our sense of gratitude for what we really do have, even if it may not seem like a lot. Compared to some people we have everything and with that remembering it allows us to become more happy.
